Being disabled along the Interstate or on State or County highways can be a very trying experience. Having to tow a RV is a special skill not to be preformed by any tow service.
Today we are taking a look at four companies that offer specialized Roadside Assistance Programs. Note, Good Sam Roadside Assistance is an affiliate.
Good Sam Roadside Assistance
Established in 1984, Good Sam Roadside Assistance offers roadside assistance plans for RVs and autos and has assisted RV’ers in over 2 million roadside breakdowns. The company has a network of over 40,000 service and repair providers. Good Sam also stands out with its coverage limits: the plan covers five service calls per membership year and unlimited towing mileage to the nearest service center while other well known companies limit you to 5 miles on the basic plan. The company provides lockout assistance, emergency fuel and fluids, and flat tire service with the member paying for parts and labor. Good Sam’s coverage for traditional automobiles, motorcycles, and even boat trailers is comprehensive, reputable, and affordable.
Good Sam has the widest geographic coverage of the providers we reviewed. They can service customers in all 50 states, Canada, Mexico, Puerto Rico, and the U.S. Virgin Islands. Their plan includes trip interruption assistance up to $2,000, emergency medical referral service in the event of an accident or illness while traveling, and an average arrival time of 45-60 minutes from the time the call is made to the Good Sam customer service center.

Good Sam offers 3 plans with the very basic plan covering towable RV’s only. The Auto & RV Platinum Plan protects you and your family while driving all vehicles-multiple RVs and autos, even if they are rented, leased or borrowed. Your utility and sport utility trailers are also covered, and the Platinum Auto plan covers all of your owned household vehicles. All Good Sam plans includes the member’s spouse or domestic partner, and all dependent children under 25 at no extra charge.
Good Sam’s satisfaction guaranty is excellent, they offer the widest coverage available on the market, particularly for RV owners, and their low price makes it affordable for larger households to cover every family member. Good Sam offers Their well-established history, superb customer service, and broad geographic coverage have earned Good Sam an A+ rating as an accredited Better Business Bureau company.
American Automobile Association
Founded in 1902, the American Automobile Association, also known as AAA or “Triple A” is probably the most recognized emergency roadside assistance provider offering 24/7 emergency roadside assistance to customers nationwide. With over 55 million members, customers can choose from three coverage plans, Classic, Plus, and Premier Plans. The towing package available is different between plans with the AAA Classic plan only towing your RV up to 7 miles. With the AAA Plus plan your RV will be towed up to 100 miles and the AAA Premier plan up to 200 miles. Each plan offers free fuel delivery, member pays for the fuel, and battery and jump start service. Each plan also offers a vehicle lockout and locksmith service with different coverage for each plan. Also included is car travel interruption, travel planning, passport photos free or at reduced cost, and more.
AAA plans also include a flat tire service and minor mechanical service, parts and labor not included. And for an additional $37.00, members can receive four RV service calls per household with tows up to 100 miles.
AAA is probably the most widely-recognized name in Roadside Assistance providers. Their nationwide network of contractors and many brick-and-mortar locations give members reassurance while on the road and access to a significant number of perks. AAA is a Better Business Bureau accredited company with an A+ rating.
Coach-net
Coach-Net was founded in 1987 and began offering emergency roadside services tailored to the specialized needs of RVers. This service allowed RVers to travel with more confidence knowing that if a problem should arise while on the road away from home, help was just a phone call away. Coach-Net’s only focus is making RV travel worry-free and they manage their own Roadside Assistance Provider Network.
Coach-Net offers two plans, a Motorized Plan for Class A, B and C motor-homes and a Towable Plan for towed RV’s such as Travel Trailers and 5th Wheels. Their premier Roadside Assistance plan not only includes 24/7, all-inclusive roadside assistance but also other valuable benefits such as Unlimited Towing, Fuel and Fluid delivery, Unlimited battery jumps, Mobile Mechanic Services, and Lockouts. Concierge Services, Global Emergency Travel Services, Tire Discounts, Camping Discounts, Trip Planning and so much more.
On top of 24/7 Roadside Assistance, Coach-Net protection plans such as Hazard Protect – Tire and wheel protection.
RV Protect – Extended warranty (service contract) for new and used Rvs
Asset Protect – Guaranteed Asset Protection commonly known as GAP, and
Finish Protect – Paint and fabric protection
It does not appear that Coach-Net is an accredited Better Business Bureau company.
American Guardian Warranty Services Incorporated
Since its inception in 1998, AGWS goals have been to offer superior claim processing and exceptional customer service. While mostly an extended warranty type provider their plan for motor-homes include towing assistance. They have coverage, different plan levels, for motor-homes and towables and cover most of the systems on the RV.
Their RV Motor Club Plan features emergency roadside assistance, RV technical assistance, towing services, mechanical first aid, tire services, battery services, delivery services, and locksmith services as part of the Motor Club membership.
